(9 January 1943, Pobroszyn, Poland – 5 July 2026, Auckland)
An enterprising hard-working woman never accepting NO for an answer. Would overcome any obstacle which life threw at her. A devout Catholic, proud Polish patriot revering her ancestors who fought for the freedom of Poland on the various fronts – from the Napoleonic campaigns in Spain and Russia, through the Polish XIX century uprisings, to the WWII.
The fate wasn’t always kind, took her out of the native Poland to England, South Africa and New Zealand. She lost the 23-year-old daughter to an incurable disease, she got cancer, running business had never been easy. But her fighting spirit prevailed. At 60, when running an international import company became too difficult, she enrolled on a three-year full time university study competing with the 18 year old girls and succeeded. Became a registered Early Childhood Education teacher and carried on for the next 10 years in Devonport.
There were blessings too. Her husband Andrzej was a strong support for 60 years, and her son Marek and daughter-in-law Michaela are real angels. And they have two sweetest talented children, Lilka and Oskar.
