Rob, thank-you, you were a quiet inspiration. I hope I can live my life wholeheartedly in the face of big challenges - you seem to have found your way to do it. I’ll really miss our conversations while milling around in the church foyer or pulling weeds out at the local reserve over the last few years. Rest in love.

Dear Mandy and family: We are so saddened to learn of Rob’s passing and our hearts go out to you, your family and friends. We will all miss him but will remember his kind and joyful person. He made us, though we were foreigners, feel like family and lifelong friends. May Jesus, our Lord, be near to you and may you know His everlasting love day by day.

Dearest Mandy my heart goes out to you and your family during this time. We are so sorry for you loss. To Rob even though your flame has been extinguished, the light and warmth of your soul will continue to illuminate our hearts. Thank you for the wise counsel that you gave to me and others, the smile and compassion you showed to those who came to Kiwi Harvest each week. You impacted the lives of many people, more than you will ever know. Thank you and farewell RIP.

I have fond memories of long-line fishing in the Hauraki gulf with Rob and James. The times on Rangitoto and Motutapu have remained with me. Thank you for such lasting memories. But perhaps the most striking story is how, over these last couple of years, God's kindness encountered you as you delivered food parcels to those in need. Blessed while being a blessing. I wish I could be there in person to hear the stories. I will watch online from J.

You lived life the way it was meant to be lived — with energy, curiosity, and a deep love for the outdoors. Whether it was fresh air, open spaces, or simply being on the move, you found joy in the world around you and inspired others to do the same. Your zest for life was contagious, and adventurous spirit will always stay with us. Thank you for showing us how to embrace life fully and appreciate the simple, beautiful moments along the way. You will be deeply missed, but the memories of your strength, warmth, and love of the outdoors will live on in all of us. Rest peacefully. Your journey may have ended, but the path you walked and the lives you touched will never be forgotten.

Very sad to see Rob getting more unwell over the last few weeks, but he was always cheerful and uncomplaining. We all appreciated his wisdom and sense of humour. His faith in God was an encouragement to us all but we will miss him dearly.

I had the pleasure of being one of Robert's colleagues at Rangitoto College for the duration of his time there. An absolutely first class man, who I respected greatly. Robert always had a great sense of humour, a grin and a kind word - even if I was really annoying with my questions. I think of him often. Much love to all the Armstrong family xx
