Yvonne died on Thursday 8 August, at home with her daughters who with her sister Cherelyn had been caring for her through the end of her cancer journey.
Yvonne was so very much loved. She was the cherished wife of the late Greg, adored mother of Venetia & Cordelia, much loved sister of Ann, Cherelyn, Mardi, Mervyn and the late Jon and Leon., treasured friend of Jean, dear friend of Shirley and loved friend & colleague of so many more.
Her helpful, caring nature left a gentle mark, with relationships built over decades: as a registered nurse at the Wilson Centre, as a volunteer in the Carmel College library, as a founding member, librarian & committee member of North Shore Embroiderers Guild and as a loyal customer of quite a few local fooderies.
Yvonne's love of travel, hiking and nature was undiminished by the years she devoted to caring for Greg with his dementia. She managed several more adventures, both during that time and after his death in 2021, until she became unwell a year ago. Her final journey with cancer was not one she would have chosen and she did all she could to fight it. She is now at peace.
Yvonne's family thanks the Harbour Hospice team for the care and help they provided Yvonne, and for enabling the family to care for her in her home. Thanks also to the teams from Auckland Hospital oncology and North Shore Hospital.
Yvonne’s service will be held at North Shore Memorial Park Chapel at 2pm, Wednesday 14th August and will be live streamed. Her family welcomes you to join them for the service and refreshments to remember the lovely Yvonne.
